Romona Joan Coon, 78, having faith in Jesus Christ, was given eternal life October 22, 2014 into heaven by God, the Father. No longer will she endure pain, suffering, or, sorrow, and in accordance with 2 Cor. 5:8, absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. She passed into heaven at Golden Plains Health Care Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born June 11, 1936 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Julius and Lydia (Geffert) Popp. After graduating from Wichita East High School, she married Gerald Traver, a United States Marine, and they resided in California. They later divorced. She served as an office manager for a surgeon while in California and throughout her professional career. On May 1, 1976, she married Kent Coon in Santa Ana, California, and moved to Haven, Kansas in 1993. He survives. A born again Christian, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, arts and crafts, shopping for and collecting antiques, and, being a member of the Haven Bridge Club. In addition to her husband, other survivors include a son, Michael Traver; 2 daughters, Stephanie Confer, Michelle Baxter (Kurt); 6 grandchildren, Justin Traver (Carrie), Matthew Baxter (Erin), Amanda Wilson (Lee), Jerod Traver, Alisa Traver, Micah Baxter; 2 great-grandchildren, Isaac Baxter, Hudson Wilson; 2 step-children, David Coon and Janine Coon. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amanda, her parents, and, 2 brothers, Eugene and Wayne Popp. Per her request, cremation will take place and a celebration of life will take place at a later time. Memorial gifts may be made in her name to Cancer Council of Reno County or the Reno County Salvation Army and left or sent to Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas.
