Julian L. Hernandez, 69, passed away January 20, 2015 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. The son of Tiburcio and Maria Hernandez, he was born August 9, 1945 in Herington, Kansas. He was an over the road truck driver for Rawhide Trucking Company. A graduate of Hutchinson High School, he was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War, and was a member of VFW Post 1361. He enjoyed fishing, cars, especially Low Riders, and a good tune by Johnny Cash, George Strait, or traditional Mexican music. Survivors include 2 sons, Eric (Marlena) and Simon (LaDonna) Hernandez; 1 daughter, Lourie (Michael) Bernadette; 3 brothers, Rito, Fred, and Lawrence Espinosa; 3 sisters, Lucille Ojeda, Katherine McCormick, and, Minerva Garcia; 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and, 5 sisters. Public visitation will be Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm with Rosary at 7:30 pm at Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. Celebration Mass will be Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, South Hutchinson, Kansas. Father Ned Blick will preside. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park with military honors. In lieu of flowers the family gifts be made to the Julian Lawrence Hernandez Family Memorial Fund and left in care of the funeral home.
