George Barnes
George W. Barnes, 85, died Mar. 5, 2014. He was born May 20, 1928 to Clarence Barnes and Cora Smith in Hutchinson, KS. George was a published singer and songwriter and had a passion for sharing his music. One of his favorite accomplishments was singing on the Grand Ole Opry. George retired from Eaton and was a member of Full Gospel Chapel of Prayer. Survivors Include: one son, two daughters, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and two sisters. George was preceded in death by a son, parents, three brothers, three sisters and two half sisters. Memorial services will be 10a, Mar. 8, 2014 at Old Mission Heritage Funeral Home 528 N. Main St. Hutchinson with Pastor Jerry Stokely presiding. Public viewing 4p-8p Friday 7th with family to receive friends from 6p-8p. Burial will be at Fairlawn. Kenneth Dale Stropes, Sr., 89, passed away March 28, 2014 at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born September 14, 1924 in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Lucian and Christy Stropes. He was a furrier by trade. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army, where he received both a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a member of the 9th Armored Reunion Association, enjoyed model airplanes, and, loved professional wrestling. He married Margaret Mae Sieggen on July 27, 1946 in Olathe, Kansas. She died on July 20, 2013. Survivors include 2 sons, Kurt E. Stropes (Jo), Paul L. Stropes (Diane); 3 daughters, Melanie Stropes, Christina Stricker, Jeanette Lazarus, 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson, Aaron Finney, and 3 sons. Public visitation will be Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 10:00 – 2:00 at Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas, with a time of reflection at 12 noon. Inurnment will follow at Eastside Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Kansas Fallen Veterans Association and left in care of the funeral home.

Richard McFadden
Richard Franklin McFadden, 85, passed away April 3, 2014 at The Cedars Medical unit, McPherson, Kansas. He was born September 27, 1928 in Riverside, California, the son of John Buel and Grace May Baker McFadden. He was a retired over the road truck driver. After moving to Kansas at an early age, he attended Riley County schools and graduated from Keats High School in 1946. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 and was veteran of the Korean War. He was discharged from the Army in 1954. After his discharge he worked for Mayflower Trucking for 10 years and then went to work for Warren Trucking. He retired in 1997 and lived in Windom, Kansas. On December 5, 2008 he married Jessie Lynn Vitek at the McPherson County Courthouse in McPherson, Kansas. She preceded him in death on December 19, 2013. He is survived by 4 brothers, John of Wilsey, Kansas; Gerald (Marilyn) of Nampa, Idaho; Byron (Carol) of Hillsboro, Kansas; Bruce of Circleville, Kansas; 1 sister, Ahola (Larry) Hinson of Holton, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and, a great nephew. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place at a later date. A memorial fund has been established in the name of the Richard F. McFadden Family Memorial, and, gifts may be left with Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas.
