Joey Wayne Ewing, 53, passed away at Hospice House of Reno County, April 21, 2014 in Hutchinson, Kansas. The son of James and Sarah Ewing, he was born December 9, 1960 in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was a self-employed roofer by trade. A veteran of the United States Army, he loved fishing and enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren fishing as well. He enjoyed creating art by painting canvass, and enjoyed listening to classic rock and roll, particularly, Santana, and, Lynyrd Skynard. He is survived by his father, James, step-mother Margaret, his wife, Cindy Ewing of the home, 2 sons, John J. Ewing and his wife, Tamarisk of Springfield, Missouri, and, James R. Ewing of Hutchinson; 2 daughters, Ashley L. Hamilton of Hutchinson, and, Amber Dawn Ewing of Haven, Kansas; 1 brother Danny Ewing and his wife, Mary, of Hutchinson, and, 1 half brother, Larry Sain of Homer, Georgia; 1 sister in law, Linda Peters of Hutchinson, Kansas; 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah, a brother, Randall, and a daughter, Amanda Lynn. He will be missed by many friends, and in particular, his loving family. Per his request cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. The family has established the Joey W. Ewing Grandchildren’s Education Fund and gifts may be left at Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas.

Knapp, Mildred “Millie” A. (House), 89, passed away April 13, 2014 at Newton Presbyterian Manor of complications of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born August 15, 1924 in Hutchinson, KS to Irl and Agnes House. Millie was preceded in death by her husband Lewis L. Knapp, son Scott and brothers Dewey, Hugh and Irl House. Surviving is son Lewis E. Knapp, four grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, brothers Wilber (Melitta) House of Seaside, CA, Melvin (Mary) House of Manhattan, KS, Merle House of San Jose, CA and Franklin House of Hutchinson, step-sister Marilyn (Bob) of Washington, nieces and nephews. Millie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Millie made a choice to walk with God in the late 1990’s and remained true to that profession of faith until her death. She began her professional career at age 21 as an operator with Southwestern Bell and retired as a customer service representative of AT&T after over 40 years of service. She served as an officer for the Telephone Workers Union and Credit Union. Additionally she was an active member of the Reno County Democratic Women’s Club. Millie will be remembered as a congenial, generous person with a wonderful sense of humor who was dearly loved by her family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, April 17 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS with family present from 6 – 7. Memorial service will be Friday April 18 at 10:30 a.m. also at the Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Penwell – Gable cemetery. Lois Irene Stowell, 93, went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2014 at Pleasant View Home in Inman, Kansas. Born July 22, 1920 in Vermillion, Kansas, she was the daughter of Ray and Maude Christie. A Hutchinson resident for the last several decades, she was a homemaker, mother, and perhaps her favorite job, grandmother. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and she served as a member of the Buhler Mennonite Church in Buhler, KS. A loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother, Lois is survived by her children; Lyle (Connie) Stowell of Burrton, Joyce (Don) Weinbrenner of Hillsboro, Kathy (Roy) McIver of Hutchinson, Carol (Gary) Blevins of Wichita, Naomi (Kenny) Weiss, Wilma (John) Winn, Debbie (Tony) Botkins, and Judy Whittington all of Lebo, Ruth Hedger, Karen Lackey, and Rick Stowell all of Hutchinson, Loma (Lonnie) Seachris and Helen (Dave) Ediger of Buhler, Robert Stowell of Chino Valley, Arizona, Jan Stowell, Jim Frye, Norman Schroder, and Kathy Stowell, and one sister Loma Gregg of Lawrence Kansas Lois is also survived by a legacy of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. In Heaven she has joined her parents, her loving husband William, her brothers Elmer Christie, Madary Christie, and Arthur Christie, her sisters Wilma Richardson, Nina Bair, and Fern Braden, her sons Melvin Stowell and Bill Stowell, her daughters Irene Stowell and Nadine Frye, grandson Carson Blevins and great granddaughter Aspen Schroeder. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, May 20 at 10am at the Buhler Mennonite Church with Pastors Lee Suderman, Bob Dalke, and, Dr. Joshua Seachris leading the service. Friends may visit from 4pm to 8pm on Monday May 19, 2014 at Old Mission Heritage Funeral Home in Hutchinson 528 N. Main St., Hutchinson, Ks 76501. Family will be present from 5pm to 7pm. Memorials may be made to Buhler Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home. Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home, Hutchinson is in charge of service arrangements.

Garrett “Todd” McCauley, 32, died May 21, 2014 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. The son of Garrett and Linda McCauley, he was born February 16, 1982 in Kansas City, Kansas. A graduate of Hutchinson High School in 2000, he also was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country in Iraq, he was attending Wichita Technical Institute and worked for Buchanan Technologies. On November 5, 2011 he married Nigel Martinez in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include his mother, 3 step children, Andre Morris, Jr., Evan and Elena Simmons; his puppies, Molly and Abbie; 1 brother Byron McCauley; 2 sisters, LaDonna Warren (Marcus), Tawanna Berry (Sonny), several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 6:00 -7:00 pm at Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11:00 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Penwell – Gabel Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Garrett Todd McCauley Family Fund and left in care of the funeral home.

Darold L. Drake, 78, passed away May 25, 2014 at Pleasant View Home in Inman, Kansas. The son of Jerry and Lura Drake, he was born in Preston, Missouri, July 17, 1935. He was a retired truck driver for Groendyke Transport. He is survived by Hoss (Wendy) Yvonne (Troy), and Guy Gann (Barbara), 2 sisters, 6 grandchildren, and, 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Callie, his parents, a sister, and, 2 cousins. Public visitation will be Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm with the family present from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. Memorial service will be 10:30 am, Friday, May 30, 2014 at the funeral home followed by interment at Fairlawn Burial Park.
